Overview

Nestled in the heart of Seminyak on Jl. Taman Ganesha Gg. Bina, Biku offers more than just a meal; it delivers an experience steeped in charm and tradition. This restaurant occupies a stunning 150-year-old teak joglo, an architectural gem that gracefully blends old-world allure with modern Balinese touches. The lush garden surroundings and cozy bookstore nook provide a serene escape from the buzz of Bali’s busy streets, making Biku a perfect haven for those seeking tranquility alongside great food.

Biku’s menu showcases a thoughtfully curated blend of Indonesian classics and Western favorites, highlighted by dishes such as the iconic Nasi Campur Ala Biku, rich Beef Rendang, and comforting Sop Buntut. Their take on Barramundi Fillet with garlic butter sauce stands out, especially when paired with butter-fried rice and a glass of finely selected white wine—an elegant yet accessible dining choice. For those with a sweet tooth, the gluten-free carrot cake slice has garnered a devoted following, often hailed as the best in town, complemented by indulgent options like Pavlova with tropical fruits and Banoffee pie.

The café also shines in its afternoon offerings. The Traditional High Tea Tier, featuring delicacies such as delicate scones with mango jam, pandan crepes, and black rice pudding, pairs beautifully with their exceptional loose-leaf teas. Guests describe this ritual as a soothing retreat from the hectic pace outside, where generous portions and attentive service elevate a simple tea break into a memorable event. While the space is naturally ventilated—meaning it can feel warm during the day—the open-air setup enhances the connection to Bali's tropical atmosphere.

Biku’s ambiance and menu appeal to a wide audience—from families and tourists craving authentic yet refined Indonesian cuisine to locals and visitors longing for a peaceful afternoon escape. Its accessibility, with all-day breakfast served from morning until late afternoon and no strict reservation policies for tea, makes it a flexible and welcoming spot. Whether you come seeking a hearty meal, an afternoon high tea, or simply a quiet moment amid traditional decor and verdant gardens, Biku balances cultural richness with culinary delight seamlessly.

Every time I’m in Bali, I always make a stop at Biku. The first thing I look for is their carrot cake, and it truly deserves the title “the best carrot cake in town.” This time, I tried some different dishes. I usually go for the butter chicken, but we ordered other menu items instead. The fish with garlic butter was amazing, especially paired with the butter fried rice with green peas and perfect pair with white wine. We also tried the babi kecap, the ayam kecombrang (so good!), and one of their weekly specials (forgot the name) chicken cooked with fresh tomato paste. We also tried lemon and raspberry cake and it was good! Overall, Biku never disappoints. A very recommended place to eat when you’re in the Seminyak area!

Situated at the end of a side road, you do need to turn on google map if it is your first time locating it. Reasonably priced food in an Indonesian setting. Only gripe is that it is rather warm in the day as there is no aircondition. They also serve all day breakfast from 8am to 5pm.

Biku is pure magic in Seminyak! Housed in a stunning 150-year-old teak joglo, the vibe blends old-world charm with modern Bali flair—think lush gardens, a cozy bookstore nook, and that perfect afternoon tea setup. We indulged in the Asian High Tea: delicate scones with mango jam, pandan crepes, black rice pudding, and fresh fruit bites, all paired with their exceptional loose-leaf teas. The service was warm and attentive, making it feel like a royal escape. Portions are generous, flavors authentic yet elevated, and it's family-friendly too. A must-visit for brunch or sunset drinks—book ahead! Absolute highlight of our Bali trip.

Lovely afternoon tea. Escape to some tranquility away from the constant hooting and screaming engines of the scooters. Biku is an oasis of calm where you can relax and have a quiet traditional afternoon tea. Very good value for money, in fact there was nearly too much!

I absolutely adore coming to Biku for their afternoon high tea. I come here at least once a month to rewind, relax and have a pleasant afternoon treat. Their high tea selection is so comforting and all their drinks, tea or otherwise, are perfect. The atmosphere is super calming and wonderfully decorated as a traditional joglo. I prefer sitting outside and enjoying their always perfectly sunlit outdoor area. Unlike other high tea places, you don't need to make a reservation in advance and you can just show up as and when you feel like which I appreciate since I don't have to make a booking as I usually do.

We had a superb local lunch at this spot. Our family enjoyed great food, a beautiful setting, and very friendly staff, especially Nia and Ulain. The cocktails are awesome, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. This place is definitely a must-visit to experience the genuine Balinese vibe. They also serve other foods, such as delicious sandwiches, a high tea style menu, and vegetarian options.
